TAS Accepts U.S. Department of Commerce Export Award

Press Release  |  Mar 14, 2007

TAS was recognized March 1st for outstanding export sales performance by the U.S. Department of Commerce.  The award for export achievement was presented to TAS at the annual IDEA (International District Energy Association) Campus Energy Conference, which was held in Houston.  Both the Department of Commerce and Mayor Bill White presented the award to TAS CEO, Tom Pierson.  Mayor White, a strong proponent of energy efficiency technologies, was especially pleased to present an award for export achievement to a Houston based company that has earned an international reputation for designing and building high efficiency cooling systems.  The Export Achievement award recognizes U.S. businesses that achieve competitive success in international markets.  With installed systems on five continents and significant growth in the burgeoning Middle East construction market, TAS personifies the type of entrepreneurial success sought by U.S. companies in today’s highly competitive global markets.

“There is a robust market for high reliability and cost effective district cooling solutions in the countries of the Middle East Gulf Region, where massive new real estate developments are driving huge demand for increased cooling capacity.  In selling TAS technology solutions, TAS is acting on the core objective of IDEA's Market Development Cooperator Grant from the Dept of Commerce and helping to ensure that this effort is a success.  The International District Energy Association is very pleased and extends our congratulations to the many talented and dedicated people at TAS for receiving an Export Achievement Award from the US Department of Commerce, in recognition of their leadership and success in marketing, designing and delivering high efficiency pre-engineered, modular chilled water plants,” said Rob Thornton, IDEA President.

“We are very pleased to be recognized for all the hard work and initiative on behalf of our TAS team. Global markets are rewarding companies like TAS that have proactively invested in energy efficiency technologies.  Across our spectrum of markets, ranging from district cooling to the power generation industry, we are seeing increased demand for technologies that focus on reduced life cycle cost, which is now so closely linked to the cost of energy.  This is simply a matter of the right time, right place and right technology.  This Award means a lot to us; we’re proud of what we’ve accomplished and excited about the future”, said CEO and Founder Tom Pierson.
